I saw pictures of Salvador in Live on the Art Fair in Brussels, his work is amazing in volume, colour deep,
“It’s a question of time”. The central element of my painting is the volcanic soil of my origin, Vesuvius. It transforms into colour, transforms under the weight of the material to become a dance with a canvas. For me, what matters in the painting is rhythm. It’s like jazz music, sometimes structured, sometimes improvised. First of all, it is a gesture, a free and uninterrupted movement that turns the subject into the excessive material, which often works out to excess. Canvas is like a volcano, telluric and unpredictable. But also extremely sensual.
