Phyllida Barlow


Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, 1944

Still 10 years ago, the artist’s works were not represented by any gallery, and no work was sold. She secretly created her sculptures and installed under the open sky from the banners and from the abandoned materials and then watched what would happen. Not many people knew about her hobby.
At the moment, her work can be seen in the brilliant galleries of Hauser & Wirth in London’s Savile Row and Tate Modern, where she is exhibited in a separate room.
In recent months, she was awarded the CBE, chosen as the representative of Britain at the Venice Biennale in 2017 and in the list for the main prize of sculpture. In October, she will present a new job in the vast space of the Zurich Kunsthalle…
