The artist mainly works with installation and sculpture. His installations are made of different material, coloured glass, coloured plastic, wood and play with light and penetration of light through transparent materials of installations make them even more interesting for viewing and searching for the meaning of sculpture. On some of them there are wings, perhaps it’s reflected lightness, airiness, which is given visually also with the help of transparent materials and bright rays sliding through the sculpture.
Wim Botha is best known for busts, which he creates from carved books and encyclopedias, but he is much more complex and developed than just objects. The work he creates is deconstructed figurative monuments and figures, compared by light, movement and installation. The works are often dark and in battle or conflict states, to be concise.
